Mark Shasha is an award-winning artist, author, educator and frequent painter at major plein air events throughout the U.S. His oil paintings evoke his passion for the alluring scenes in nature that capture his eye.
A life-long artist with a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, Mark’s early years were marked by success as a notable children’s book author and illustrator. He is an elected member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the Salmagundi Club and the Copley Society, and a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. Recent awards include The 2021 Museum Purchase Award in San Angelo, Texas, The Montanaro Gallery Award at the National Exhibition of the Rockport Art Association & Museum, and Artist’s Choice Award at Plein Air Easton. His popular videos and workshops have helped students understand the fundamental elements of painting light and texture in nature.
When not painting, Mark is an actor and singer playing roles as diverse as Atticus Finch and Willy Wonka. He lives near the shore north of Boston, Massachusetts. .
